Thanks Sue for reversing that so I could read it in order…
The internet… a “safe place” for us to voice our opinions without having to dodge rotten fruit or bullets these days. Really Sue, we are all passionate fanatics towards those things that we love. And what would America be if we couldn’t voice our opinions… I am on the completely opposite side of Nadine but can understand why she is the way she is and though it’s hard for me to stomach, I have to respect her for being a seemingly “nice” woman and value that she has the right to voice her own opinion. The real problem is that she is regurgitating a lot of trash. But what can you expect when that is all the media will play and most people don’t bother to look into the facts/truths. I suppose this truly makes them sheep following the herd. It goes so far beyond just this presidential election…this is truly a social experiment through the ages, and our warped view of what home and family values mean these days…we once were Pagans and Heathens (the “Christians” cringe when I say this…Pagan coming from the word `paganis' which means a person who lives in the country. A heathen is a person who lives on the heath.) Our way of life was hunting, gathering, farming, living off the land as it was intended with our clans and family. We gave up our lands for profit, we’ve over populated, become greedy (Nadine, if you were a real passionate Christian this is what you would preach against, right?) and we’ve placed more value in “stuff” than we have in our own family and friends…it really is a sad state of affairs that is so far gone who knows if it will ever get better…I can tell you that it will get a lot worse before it rights itself…see why you don’t want to get me started…
there was a great article in the NY Times on an author in Maine by the name of Carolyn Chute…(she calls herself a redneck, the more I read, the more I am ready to get back to the country and the tribe…and become a redneck) here is a quote from one of her interviews…
“The American Dream has served the capitalist elite very well. It has become not just a campaign slogan but our culture. At times it almost feels like it's part of our soul. Through every medium it has seeped. It has filled every cradle. They send a yellow bus to our doors and we gladly shove our children aboard. For many years, day in and day out, the Great Society whispers into each sweet perfect little childly ear. Children are graded like slabs of meat. Pitted against each other for honors. Millions of children are culled out heart and soul because their talents are not academic or marketable, not valued, too tribal. The Great Society begins at 5 years old. And notice how schools in no way resemble home. There are no grammies or dads, babies or dogs hanging around to lend or need a hand. But schools do indeed resemble insurance companies! And politicians have the gall to say we-the-people have forsaken family values!” Carolyn Chute
and here I become the “fanatic”

From Nadine to Jeff
Jeff---one last political question: does it not frighten you a bit to think that our system of checks and balances in our wonderful country could be taken away if we get Obama for president? W/a Dem. Congress, and Obama has promised to elect Supreme Court judges who vote with their heart, and not with the law..........what protection will we have? Maybe you already voted, but this has been something I've been very concerned about.
I believe McCain is going to win today, and I do hope that with all of my heart, for numerous reasons, but the above paragraph reflects one of them!!
God Bless.......we have such a great country, don't we, that we can discuss things like this freely and w/out fear of reprisal, and we can still be friends when it's all said and done!!! Thank God for America!!! Have a great day!! Nadine

Rat City, not surprisingly, has no money. So, it would be kind of like doing PR for the SDMA, except I might feel worse about being incompetent.
That said, it should be fun.
Nadine is a 57 year-old woman from a small town in Iowa, she has a sick mother and a gay son. I'm certain neither of us could change the other's mind, but if the exchange is worth anything it proves that two people with diametrically opposed world views can both waste hours online.

I knew a Ratcity Rollergirl. Her name was Electric Fanny. What a hoot.
I understand that Nadine has a sweetness and passion to her that is compelling, it’s just that the hypocrisy is a bit hard to handle. Does she really think that the color of Obama’s heart is different than the color of hers? Or that God would support her thinking that there was a difference? It’s certainly a revelation to read about her beliefs, I’m just glad she is in the minority!
You go dude!

Are you serious? The Rat City Roller Girls? Your life continues to become more interesting all the time.
NEW IDEA: pretend that she actually CONVINCES you to vote McCain and then if Obama wins you can see what she has to say about that. If she thinks you're on her side, then she might reveal more of her feelings about it.
Congrats on the Rat City (if you're serious!)

You have no idea.
I'm going to start compiling all this into some doc that makes sense (if that's possible) soon.
Oddly enough I'm growing to understand nadine, and really (and don't laugh, I mean it) kind of sort of becoming friends with her.
Not sure when I'll compose this Red/Blue Dialogue, as I'm a bit busy with very important bidness. I just got off the phone with Rat City Rollergirls and I'm putting a PR plan in place for them. They'll be skating at Key Arena starting in February.
This could be more fun than doing PR for the professional bowlers association.

Abort Mission!
It’s a hopeless cause. She is demented and deranged. And rather frightening. That a person like Nadine supports Sarah Palin is all the more proof that Sarah doesn’t deserve to serve as a crosswalk attendant, much less hold any public office.
It is shocking how far right the Christian right is. Totally off the charts.
Sue
BTW: I’ve shared these emails with my husband and a co-worker Rachel. They are as transfixed, shocked, amused and horrified as we are. I think you should put it together in a word doc, it is fascinating – maybe you should keep her engaged until after the election, if you have the stomach for it. Which each successive email it gets more Whacked!
